2016 Holden Colorado 7 recalled for seat fix

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Holden has issued a recall for its 2016 model-year Colorado 7 SUV over concerns the second row of seats may not lock into position. The car maker said in a statement: “A condition has been identified whereby the recliner mechanisms fitted to the second row (60 percent side – left and centre seating positions) may not lock correctly when the seat back is placed into the upright position.”

Black Edition adds some colour to Holden Commodore SV6

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Special editions are a part of motoring (marketing) life, as much with Aussie brands as anybody. They're the perfect way to stir up sales when a model is on a go-slow or in between updates. Never mind the red paintwork, Holden has given its Aussie sedan a fillip with a limited-run Black Edition.

2017 Chevrolet SS To Receive LSA Power?

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - We’re going to take this one with a grain of salt, but it’s certainly plausible. We’ve heard mumblings from sources inside the Elizabeth assembly, responsible for building the VF Holden Commodore Series II and our Chevrolet SS, that more power is coming stateside for the sedan’s final model year. Should the LSA make its way to the 2017 SS performance sedan, it would mean a major power bump. Currently, the Chevrolet SS performance sedan makes do with only 415 hp from the 6.2-liter LS3 V8. If HSV is any indicator, power could increase to a healthy 580 hp from the supercharged LSA.

Holden teases brand push as Aussie manufacture nears end

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - As Holden battles falling sales and prepares to cease production in Australia, it's plotting a major brand push that will roll out over the course of this year to cement its relevance. By 2017, Holden will cease manufacturing cars in Australia, so it's no surprise that the brand has opted to feature five Australian celebrities to front its ads to hammer home its Aussie heritage.

VFACTS Sales 2016: Getting on with business

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Australian business vehicle buyers have brushed off elections, Brexits and other supposedly negative economic sentiments to underpin the biggest month of new-vehicle sales in history in June and cap a record first half for 2016, the latest VFACTS data shows. With private, government and rental company purchases all slightly down in the annual end-of-financial-year June frenzy, it was left to business buyers to do the heavy lifting and drive the market to a massive 128,569 units – up 2.2 per cent on the same month last year – and put the industry on target for a record-smashing 1.2 million sal

2016 Holden Astra GTC Long-Term Car Review, Part 1

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Holden Astra coupe gives Alex a lesson in growing older gracefully. GTC Sport models, which slot into the upper end of the Astra range below the top-spec VXR, add bigger 19-inch wheels shod with 235/45 rubber, LED tail-lights and a sportier body kit, all of which deliver a look that’s chunky, bold and aggressive. I especially like it in profile, and from the back, where its fat Kardashian booty reminds me of a Porsche 911. I’m even enjoying the Sunny Melon paint, which is so bright that I constantly catch the Astra’s good-looking reflection in shop windows.

Holden Astra VXR Review (with video)

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Sometimes good cars can get tainted by bad politics. The Holden, Opel, Holden Astra VXR may be one of those cars but it would be foolish to rule this hot hatch out of contention simply because of its recent past. This VXR is a loveable rogue that offers just as much beauty as it does brawn.

2016 Holden Commodore SS ute review

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Not surprisingly, the installation of GM’s 6.2-litre LS3 V8 has done excellent things for Holden’s VF II Commodore range. To be honest, we can’t think of many things a 6.2-litre V8 wouldn’t improve, but combining it with a rear-drive ute is certainly going to be a happy marriage.

Mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 spotted testing

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - These are the first pictures of a Chevrolet Corvette C8 test mule running a Corvette body over its mid-engined underpinnings. Previous mules have been spotted wearing a cut-up Holden Ute body, but this car - which was photographed from about one mile away – looks to be wearing an adapted Corvette C7 exterior.
