Car Review: 2018 Honda Fit

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - Having been young and poor once, I can appreciate where budget-based wheels — while hardly sexy, cosseting or luxurious — are better than no wheels at all. And, quite frankly, today’s crop of econoboxes are certainly more completely contented than the choices I faced more than a generation ago when I was in my 20s – that would be the back half of the Sucking Seventies. Having sampled cars such as Nissan’s Versa Note, the Chevy Sonic and Ford’s Fiesta fairly recently, I look upon features such as air conditioning, heated seats, power windows and decent audio systems, with unabashed jealousy.

Looking Back at the 1991 Pontiac ProtoSport 4 Concept #FlashbackFriday

Posted By GMbeat on Blog

The 1991 Pontiac Protosport 4 concept car was introduced at the 1991 Chicago Auto Show. The Protosport concept was designed to test the idea for a four seat, four-door Firebird.  It offered space for four passengers, while still providing both performance and handling normally found in sports cars. The rear wheel drive (RWD) concept was powered by a front-mounted dual-overhead cam, 4-liter V8 that produced 250 horsepower mated to a four speed automatic transmission.

Three full-size pickup trucks with generous discounts

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - The featured Chevrolet Silverado arrives as a Crew Cab with a six-foot-six box and the 2LZ package. The latter banishes any notion that this is a work truck — it is ringed with quality materials and the equipment list is as long as many luxury cars. It includes Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen, along with heated and 10-way power-adjustable front seats, a power-sliding rear window in the back, a back-up camera and GM’s Teen Driver assist – it prevents key safety systems from being turned off and gives a post-drive report on the teen’s driving habits.

Up Where We Belong: The 2018 Chevy Tahoe Custom Conquers the High Desert of Nevada

Posted By GMbeat on Articles - The Mojave. A perfect place to test the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe Custom. The Custom is the Golden Bowtie's first earnest attempt in a long while at a budget-spec, body-on-frame SUV that's not marketed at people with more kids than car seats. The no-frills sport utility category has become a virtual wasteland as customers flock to crossovers en masse, and Chevy is betting there's room at the bottom of the model's existing trim levels for a version that offers cloth seats, no third row, and the ability to tow a few metric tons of stuff.
